Default Help!! Tried everything!!

hi, i am a Mac OSX user (10.4.2) and I also use a linksys wireless router. I've tried everything that has been reccommended in the forums, yet still I haven't been able to acquire a connection. My friend has the same router as me, and she also has the same powerbook, but whenver i go to her house, I have no problem connecting to limewire. Someone please help!!!!

Now that you know the problem is not with your setup, it's time to look upstream.

Call your Internet Service Provider, and find out what ISP your friend uses.

we have two different ISPs. But we live in similar apartment complexes. I was able to connect to limewire before I started using my wireless router. I think the problem is the wireless router is creating a firewall...but I don't know how to get around it. Everytime I open up limewire, a message will appear saying, "Limewire cannot detect an active internet connnection" but I know there is an internet cnnection because I can browse the net.

a quick check would be to plug the ISP's cable directly into your Mac, thus testing if the ISP (or apartment) or the linksys is the problem.

If you can connect fine without the linksys, check out http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=25119

Lemme tell you what i've tried...

1) I created a static IP on my computer...I look at directions for windows xp and adjusted them for Mac OSX
2) I forced the port in limewire
3) I used portforward on the linksys admin page to forward ports 6346-7

I don't know what else to do....please help!!! I'm pretty sure it's my router, because I can use limewire at other places..
