Disconnects when I'm not actively using my computer

I'm able to connect to LimeWire (4.9.30 pro) just fine and upload/download just fine. My problem is that I'd like to leave LimeWire running all the time and I do, but the connection 'disconnects' after some period of time--it appears to happen when I've left my PC for some time and there is no activity.

I've checked all my settings and there is nothing that says anything about persistent connections.

I'm on a broadband connection and everything else works just fine. My email gets checked every 10 min.

I do have a firewall (Zone Alarm Pro) but LimeWire is enabled in the software.

I'm also running Norton antivirus but that's not giving me any problems either.

ANY ONE ELSE have this problem? Any idea what could be causing the disconnect or "sleeping LimeWire?"

thanks.

LW goes into idle mode when inactive for a while, but it is still connected to at least one ultrapeer. Your file transfers can continue without any ultrapeers: they are just used for searches and making the initial contact.

When LW detects user activity, it will call up additional ultrapeers in preparation for a search.

So, idle (sleep) mode is normal and shouldn't affect your ongoing file transfers up and down. In fact, as long as LW is running, you don't even have to be connected to the gnutella network for the file transfers to take place (once started).

I only have a 256 kbps connection, but I can verify that even in sleep mode I can be downlding 4+ files simultaneously & at or near my max downld speed which is 27 KB/s. It really does depend on so many things as to how your LW & its connections behave. But although LW might go thru a temp period of slower speeds (I suspect due to the host using the bandwidth for other purposes/conjested net traffic), it always seems to get back to the max speed regardless of idle or active mode! ;)

Does your LW show the red bars on the lower left and also say 'disconnected' as well? Mine does that when I come back to the computer after I've been away for several hours.

It's a 'Turbo Charged' connection when I'm using my computer but after this sleep mode it shows all red bars and 'Disconnected.'

Are you telling me it's really still connected to the network even though it says Disconnected? I have to manually reconnect to get uploads/downloads going again.

Are you using the most current version of LimeWire some of the older versions did what you are describing but I haven't had it happen with the newer ones.

As I said in my first post, I'm using LW 4.9.30 Pro, which I believe is the latest version.

4.9.33 is the latest version (the Pro version is also available from your Pro page), but I think you have found a different problem related to the normal "sleep" behaviour.

I read that the developers have noted that in some unknown cases, LW is going past the sleep stage and disconnecting. The devs are trying to get more info about what may be happening here.

Perhaps you can help: For example, some ISP's change the IP number daily. LW is supposed to recover from this situation. Can you find out how often your ISP changes your IP?

Thanks

I have searced the forum for an answer to my problem, (shared by many others), with no success.

Connect and start to download files with turbo charged connection, go to work on other jobs on computer, come back to find red disconnected warning.

Need to reconnect then find files I was downloading satisfactorily now need other sources but of course can not find more sources.

Has anyone found the cause and cure yet? Using current version and XP.
