Direct Connect Problems

"your computer is behind a firewall or router and cannot receive direct connections"

Can someone help me out of this, please!
My brother in Europe can not connect onto my computer, but I can on his. (but can't download anything, keeps always telling me 'the host is busy')
I think it is the firewall settings, just haven't got a clue how to do this.
I am using on my laptop W/XP, McAfee and Linksys wireless setup.
The windows firewall is turned OFF.

Hope this is enough info for you guys out there.

Thanks a bunch,
ULLI.

See How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect & remember to do the configurations for McAffee. Direct Connect is not the only way you can connect to each other. You can also use magnet links, which might even be easier. One or both of you send a magnet link to the other, then downld it. Once downlding, they can browse you by browsing from the downld window & the other browse from the upload window. This will be slightly less effected by firewalls. But, direct connect is difficult when one party is firewalled. Browsing may also have problems if there's firewall issues. Make sure you're both configured properly re: firewalls.

One way to check is, after LW's been open for at least 15 mins, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If true then all's fine. BUt if false, then either your computer softw firewall or a device has a firewall such as NAT. BTW Linksys generally uses UPnP so there shouldn't be any problems there.
