Unstable Connections

I too use Win XP and I sometimes get the "Unstable Connection" indication.

The truth is there is nothing you can do but wait the 2 seconds until things stabilise, i.e. LW indicates that it can work with your internet connection.

Unstable connection with LimeWire

It seems that I have made a mistake, as this part of the forum deals with LimeWire (aka LW), I thought you were asking about an unstable internet connection when using LimeWire. However, your second post shows that you may not even have LW, why else would you ask:

Therefore, my question to you is: What application are you using that shows you that your internet connection is unstable?

Is this helpful? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...191#post173191
After opening LW, let it settle down. Allow it to load the incompletes & shared files (which might take a while depending on how many), & allow it to try to connect itself to the incomplete downlds. It will attempt to connect to each one, one by one. Rushing into LW & over-using it before it's settled can have a poor effect upon its connection quality.

Also, don't use the Resum/Find Sources function on too many files simultaneously. This can have side-FX such as use up LW's, your computer's resources & may affect your net connection as well as LW's.

See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help: To continue files downlding (click on link)

BTW we all use the abbreviated LW here instead of LimeWire as we use it so often it takes too long to write it all the time. We get lazy. lol :D
