Direct Connect-Shows My Library I am trying to direct connect to a friend. I have their IP address and their firewall settings are adjusted correctly. My firewall settings are adjusted to allow Limewire. But when i try to direct connect it pulls up my library of songs and files (although the top of the tab shows THEIR IP ADDRESS). When I click on any of the songs and select Browse Host it opens up a new search tab/window showing my IP address at the top with the same songs!! Why is it showing MY library under THEIR IP address? It is not showing any of THEIR files. I actually got it to work once (shut down limewire and tried again) but it has not worked since! I am very new to this and very unfamiliar. Thank you. |
There are some odd instances where some people can find their own files in searches. I am aware of a few people who can do this. I can't do it on my set up. This is not supposed to happen where you find your own files in searches. And this is the 1st time I've heard of it happening with direct connect searches. BTW does their or your ip address start with 192 or 10? These are generally LAN addresses & normally direct connect won't work with them (however you can browse them.) Quote:
Are you aware that sending magnet links between each other is another method of connecting to friends. One of you sends a magnet link, when it starts downlding then you can browse each other. One via the downld window & the other via the Monitor window -> Uploads. See How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect |
See what happens if you type in your OWN ip address into Direct connect. That would, hopefully, show your own share. Also if you do a general search for one of your rarer files does that file show up? Strange .. but LOTR's Magnet links will be the solution .... |
