No Limewire Connection

hi,

i have been using limewire for months now but just 2 weeks limewire is not connecting anymore.
i am using limewire 4.9.30. I have a dell pentium 4: 3ghz with 512mb ram. i have a belkin router using Plus net as my internet providor. i have suspicion they might of blocked my limewire connection or everyone connected to them. it says you are behind a firewall or you have no internet connection. i HAVE NO firewall. so it cant be the problem.

any suggestions appreciated

is any body else with 'PLUS NET', so they can tell me if its my internet providor or my computer settings.

I havent changed any settings on my computer so it can be my computer, its all worked 2 weeks ago.

thanks if u can help. WHO EVER HELPS ME I WILL LOVE ALL MY LIFE!!! :p :p :) :) :D :D

Just a very simple option to try is deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.)

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

There's been one report here but I can't confirm it's universally applied. As with some isp's they may target individuals or specific p2 programs. ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

That means the port you're trying to connect thru is blocked. This is either due to your ISP, your modem/router/firewall or excessive net protective utility.

Might I suggest you try some other ports. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to ... try each of the following (may need to re-launch LW after each change I'm not sure): 1111, 80, 3500, 4008, 1203, 10000, 15189, 20282, 22817, 443, 34599, 40475, 64049.

BTW what brand & model number of modem/router do you have? Is there any new software or updates you've done you can recall that might have affected LW? Was it since you updated LW?

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

will it be wise to contact plusnet and just ask them if they are blocking file sharing applications. I mean there is nothing to lose, but if they fully accept it than i am just going to change my internet service provider + if i email them it will save me time trying to figure it out!!!

By the way thanks for helping me out you guys :D
It really helps, at least i know what the problem is know!!
Thanks again u guy's!

Thank you so much, Lord of the Rings! Simple change of properties to Windows NT compatible helped me to connect at last! (Somehow, Windows 2000 didn't work out for me!). Great tips, thanks again!

Olga.
