Sorry I edited your ip because it's not wise to post them on a public forum.

Can you use your browser thru that connection? If yes, do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Is there any particular reason you chose that port no.?

I notice your ip is one that suggests a LAN connection. Such ip's are generally not possible to direct connect to. Perhaps browse but not D.C.

Is there any other devices you're connecting thru? I don't quite understand how you're set up.

That test page was to test whether port 6346 which LimeWire (LW) uses is open or blocked. It seems it's blocked.

I'd suggest trying different ports for LW to try to connect through.

Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port from 6346 to another. After making the change press apply. I'm not sure if you should re-launch LW or not. But at least go to menu bar, File>Disconnect, wait a minute, then select File>Connect.

Here's some ports you can try: 443, 80, 1111, 3500, 4008, 1203, 10000, 15189, 20282, 22817, 34599, 40475, 64049.

If you have any options for firewalls using the Gprs net service, then see if you can open ports.

Also, did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

i have no firwalls. i disabled all of them. the port 80 worked, but still no connection. i have a feeling that it has to do with the proxies. now when i use aim, i have a set proxy ( 192.1**) and port 80** on a HTTPS connection, now on lw it doesnt have a https connection only http. you think thats where the problem is.

Ah ... it might be. Go to your LW menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Proxy
You'll see an option to choose type of proxy, add proxy number, & add port used. I guess you'd choose http proxy. Add the 192.x.x.x & add the port 80.

should i do this under http proxy or soxs5 or wat?

Lord of the Rings December 4th, 2005 03:09 AM

It depends what type of proxy you have. But you suggested you have a http proxy so try that (I may have misunderstood what you said earlier.) I guess if that doesn't work you could try the others. I don't know much about proxies.

ive tried them all, but to no avail. on aim its HTTPS on lw its HTTP is there a difference. i kno its just something so minut that is causing this error!!!!

Lord of the Rings December 4th, 2005 03:45 AM

I don't know the answer to that. BTW did you add the same port to both proxy & firewall setting in LW? Your firewall setting, is it set to UPnP or manual port forwarding? Try swapping these around. Also, it might be wise not to use both AIM & LW at the same time. Just try using LW for the time being. You said you're using port 8080, which of the other ports did you try? Port 80 is sometimes a reasonable one to try.
