solution to "single bar connecting" problem

here's a solution to a problem connecting to limewire - when it starts connecting, gives me one green bar and eventually gives up saying that i don't have an active internet connection when my connection's actually workin fine. from what i can see, lots of users seem to be suffering from the same.

i tried changing the ports, setting LW as a trusted app in my firewall, deleting the preferences file[C:\windows\.limewire for win98], uninstalling and re-installing etc. lots of times.
now i've solved d problem, here's how: when LW does not connect and shows the single green bar-

1. cancel ALL the old downloads, regardless of their status, [connecting, waiting for stable connection, need more sources etc] so now you have an empty download list.

2. exit limewire.

3. restart limewire.

this worked for me. soon as i get a connection, i queue my old dwnloads - and no problems anymore.

to avoid doing this everytime, cancel all the existing downloads everytime you exit limewire. that way next time you open it, it'll begin with an empty list.
hope this works for all.

This looks like excellent advice, although on mac I realize it seems to be impossible to close Limewire without doing this anyway:) So that must be why I never encountered the problem..... except once when I was trying to connect unsucessfully as an ultrapeer. Dissabling ultrapeer capabilities cured that one.

Welcome to the forums:) I thought you were runing a Limewire museum piece along with your computer, but I realise that perhaps it is 4.9.37 and you made a typo:)
