Connection problems with no router

Ok I hate to post yet another connection problems thread but ive tried everything.

First off im using Wild Blue Satellite service. A guy I spoke with said he is pretty sure they don't block anything.

I have a router but my computer is connected directly to the modem.

Wild Blue Box ---> My Computer ----> Wireless Router WRT54GX2 ---> 2 Computers (One running windows xp home sp2, and the other running windows media center) (both wireless)

anything past me shouldnt matter right?

Now my computer is a running windows xp with sp2 the windows firewall is disabled and the norton internet securtity that came with the computer was never setup and and was removed. I ran the test thing that i read in this forum to check port 6346 and it said it worked. But when I run limewire it says im behind a firewall. Also im running limewire 4.9.37. Ive changed the ports around and it doesn't make any difference it still doesn't work.

My computer is working as a server with internet connection sharing running. I even set the internet connection sharing to forward port 6346 to myself (even though i really shouldn't have to)

I also ran the program to change my half open connections from 10 to 50. So i think i covered just about every possible solution you guys have listed on the forum.

Ive also tried running other gnutella clients and none connect (frostwire and bearshare) also emule doesn't want to work either.

I could mess with seting up proxy's but it just seems like it should be working as it is.

This computer is an HP pavilion so could it possibly be some of their proprietary software maybe screwing it up? Im thinking of formatting and putting windows xp pro on it so its a clean version of windows without all the hp junk on it...let me know what u guys think.

Also the first time I ran this program it kind of connected but with few bars and it did download a song at less then 1 k/s but then it just stopped even doing that.

You are either behind a Firewall or your ISP is blocking P2P app my guess is the second since no P2P aps seem to work and since you said your computer is not going through the router. And you state that the windows firewall is disabled. You can try different ports and see if that helps.

ive tried changing the ports and it still doesnt work...also i ran the check on port 6346 and it was successful so wouldnt that mean that there is no block on it from my isp?

I'm new here but just posted a possible option you might want to check in a new thread.

I had a similiar problem and discovered that my modem had an additional firewall I needed to disable once I disabled it I could connect with no problems.

You might check through your help section of your ISP provider or the support site for the type of modem you have. I do not recommend disabling all your firewalls but I disabled the additional firewall associated with my modem and kept my XP, SP2 firewall enabled.

Good Luck,
Dave

yeah so i figured out the problem...wildblue has a filter set up....and it doesn't matter what port ya change it to..its not going to work...i read some what on how it works and its hard to explain but its not just a simple firewall. just thought i would fill you guys in for future reference.
