still can connect!!!

Ive read all the forums in this section and still cant find the answer to my problem. I am using Windows XP SP2 and Limewire 4.10. It says im connecting and it will still let me download files at like 15k a second. I am on a high speed connection, Ive allow everything for limewire in my firewalls, i tried deleting the prefrences folder, i opened ports, and I still cant connect. Can someone help me?

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. What firewalls you have?
2. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
3. *** Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
4. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
5. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
6. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
7. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
8. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
9. Do you get all red or one green connection bar, etc.? What does it say beside the bars? See example here Connection Bar at bottom left of window sample

If you can't reach that page then that means the port LW is set to connect thru is being blocked.

1. Disable your XP firewall as Norton & XP FW don't run well together; go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box. Else, Alternate instructions for disabling XP firewall (click link in needed)

2. Then do this: * Configuring Norton Internet Security

3. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 in Fixes for Limewire (sample at bottom of page.)

Now try to connect. Give it lots of time, up to 30+ mins to try to connect.

If still can't connect, then please post back & see if you can find out the brand name & model number of your modem/router devices. These might be part of your problem. Answers to some more of the above questions would also help us to figure out your problem. ;)
