Can ANYONE solve this problem?

I have tried everything so far offered in this forum to fix my problem. Since I downloaded the new 4.10 version of LW, everything runs so slow (I'm talking 1-4kb/s). Way too slow. I have McAfee firewall, and the Linksys WRT54G router. UPnP is ENABLED on the router and nothing has been changed. McAfee firewall is set to allow ALL LW applications. I have never had a problem before. I get the error message: "It appears you do not have an active internet connection, or a firewall is preventing LW from accessing the internet." LW still works, but runs extremely slow. I have uninstalled LW and deleted EVERYTHING relating to LW. Files, folders, .limewire EVERYHTING. I have even downloaded the 4.9 version and installed it with no avail. I have Windows XP with SP2.

The idea of port forwarding has been brought up but I'm not sure how to use the concept even after reading up on it. My dad's computer is the one with the router. I know using port forwarding requires a static IP but I need someone on the forums to PLAINLY explain to me how to use a static IP. Would me and my dad still be able to be on the internet and use LW at the same time? Can I be the only one with a static IP? I just need a plain easy to understand explanation, and how I get a static IP address and can I go back even if I change it?

Thanks for any and all help!

Try downlding a magnet link from here & tell us what speeds you get & how it behaves: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

Might I suggest you go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Speed & disable Ultrapeer capabilities. Also iTunes>Sharing & disable sharing option. Press Apply button after all changes.

Can you also tell us which ISP (net provider) you're going thru to get connected to the net.

The download from magnet link was 0kb/s and was "supposed" at 1:05:23:45 or something for download time.

I have called my ISP and confirmed they do not block or filter any programs.

I disabled the ultrapeer and music sharing in iTunes and now when I search for something, nothing comes up in LW.
