Unable to get past fire walls

I'm experiencing the same problem as josie348 and constantly have error windows poping up non stop. I have windows xp home and norton internet security. I would love to be able to use what I paid for. I have followed some of the advice of previous messages with no help. step by step detailed instructions on correcting this would be great.

Disable your XP firewall. XP & NOrton will conflict. Then see * Configuring Norton Internet Security

If you have an adsl/dsl/cable or sat modem or router, please tell us the device brand name & model number.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

BTW if you bought pro then you also have the option of contacting service support for help.

Thanks for your help
Windws fire wall is dissabled.
Norton is configured to permit all for LW
When I did the test it came up page cannot be displayed.
any suggestions?

The problem may be your modem/router then. Please answer that question I asked in my previous post. The device will be connected to your computer so just follow all the connections leading off the back of your computer. The brand & model will be listed at the top of side or bottom of the device.

Also recheck your Norton settings to be sure they're correct.

If you can't reach that page in the test I gave, then it means the port LW tries to connect thru by default is being blocked.

The modem is a actiontec GT701-WG

I don't know whether actiontech supports UPnP. So I might suggest you manually port forward your device if you can't find any such UPnP setting.

The steps are:
1. Most important step is setting up a Static ip (see link below.)
2. Forward port 6346 as described here: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...G/Limewire.htm

3. Within LW; Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that.
