Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.
(not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Norton (LW allowed on it), windows (turned off), and one that came with my internet from Verizon that I do not know how to access. 3. How much ram? I have no idea... 4. Hard Disk space available? 156gb free off 221gb 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Again, not totally sure. It's through verizon wireless 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4) No modem or router 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW: 5.1. Java: 6.0.103.3 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon wireless 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I used LW years ago, just now getting back into it. Never had this problem before 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I first downloaded LW 4, and at times it had the brickwall infront of the world icon, but then sometimes it didn't. I don't see the blue world on LW 5.1. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? None 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Norton 16. What country are you living in? USA 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? I updated my version of LW, but was having connection problems with LW 4 as well So, basically, I first start up LW and it'll connect after a minute or two. Then I'll search something and everything will be fine. Then I try to download and it suddenly loses connection. I cancel the downloads, and it'll take about 5 minutes to reconnect. I've done this several times, with the same results. |
