Yet another Loading User Interface post

Everyone is probably tired of hearing the problem but...
I cannot connect and am receiving the message "Loading User Interface" that we all have grown to love so much.

I have been using Limewire for at least two years or more and the only thing that has changed is the update to the version 4.10.3 - which precipitated this problem for me and obviously countless others...

Technical information:

PC
Dell Dimension 4600, Intel Pentium 4 - 3GHz, 1GB RAM, 25 GB available HD space

ISP
Earthlink, DSL, Broad Max Technology Ltd. DSL modem model LinkMax HSA300-2

OTHER
Linksys Router - Model BEFSR41 4-Port
Connecting from home
<http://www3.limewire.com:6346/> The page said 'Your test worked! - affirmative

SOFTWARE
Limewire - 4.10.3
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2
Java J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4..2_10

ALREADY TRIED
Basically everything that has been suggested or discussed in this forum including but not limited to:

Deleting all of the software, Limewire and Java and reinstalling them from a download directly to the PC rather than through the Internet (off-line installations)

Deleting the Limewire Folder at C:\Documents and Settings\usernamehere\Limewire, which for this version is actually - C:\Documents and Settings\usernamehere\Application Data\LimeWire

Reinstalled Java (after shutting down all Limewire instances - which is ironic because it never actually loads and does not appear on the menu bar or the icon tray)

None of the other devices that I utilize have been altered, the firewall still allows access to the Limewire service (yes I checked), anything that might possibly be blocking the connection which was discussed in many different posts to the forum were inspected and eliminated - the point I am trying to make is that I didn't do anything that might have caused this while on the other hand the update to this version IMHO is totally responsible for this calamity of errors.

Excerpt from message posted by Lord of the Rings - December 18, 2005...
Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) <http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml> Remember Windows XP has its own firewall!

Within this link is an instruction to access the options menu inside of lime wire, excuse me, it doesn't load...
Also checked this setting and the windows XP firewall has permission to access the software...

AS I said previously if a suggestion (fix) has been applicable I tried it – just ran through this all once again, removed Limewire and reinstalled it and for the past 10 minutes the “Cylon Eye” has been moving back and forth behind the soon to be infamous phrase – “Loading User Interface”

Ready for new instructions – input wait…

nice clear post DocWire_54
Looks like you (and others) have an unusual situation, and it sounds like you have done all the expected troubleshooting.

Can you get a stack trace? Maybe that will give the developers the info they need to track down the problem.

Here's the link to the instructions for getting a stack trace:

As was suggested I ran the trace... the file is atached

Have you tried swapping Java versions? ie: uninstalling 1.5 & installing 1.4.2 instead. Just a thought if you've tried everything else. However if you do try this, I'd suggest you once again delete the LW preferences if there are any before you try to open LW again.

Thanks LOTR...

Been there, done that (T-shirts still being silk-screened)

I tried it both ways, in fact your posts have been the basis for my troubleshooting efforts.

I may have missed a "step", but have tried many combinations of things, at first it was hard because the new version of LW made the folder inside the Applications folder. I hoped that once I learned that I was home free.

Alas...
