"loading user interface"

Hello!
I am having a heck of a time getting past the "Loading user interface screen when I click on my limewire icon.

Here is what I have done so far:
*Uninstalled and re-installed Limewire about 20 times.
* Upgraded to Pro and uninstalled and re-installed
* Changed my Norton Firewall to Permit
*Uninstalled and reinstalled Java
* Re-installed my graphics card drivers
I contacted Limewire and they referred me to this web-site and I have tried everything and nothing is working!
I have used limewire on this computer before, it just stopped loading, and I have no idea what I did previous to it stopping.

Any sugguestions would be great!

Windows XP

Follow the instructions in the order listed below also un install all versions of java if you have more than one use the offline installers of Java and LimeWire.

You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

Still did not work........
Any other suggestions?

Grandpa January 15th, 2006 10:23 AM

The only other thing I can suggest at this time is un install LimeWire and Java run a search on your computer by going to Start/search/all files and folders and delete anything that says LimeWire or Java then reboot and follow the above instructions use the offline installers of Java and LimeWire. I do not know that it will work bu it is worth a try.

Ok, so, I have been having the same problems, but birdy has been trying to help me out, ive done ALL of this MANY times...still, Not a thing! Starts to load, loads I see the LW program for about 2 seconds then closes...ive got plenty of ram/space, ive uninstalled about everything, installed all OFFLINE versions...is there a program on my comp that might be disagreeing with it? what is the deal?!

birdy January 26th, 2006 07:20 PM

Hi playasjoint (again),
Have a look here, check out lonestarsecurity's solution. I don't know if it'll work but why not have a go? Nothin' else has worked:eek:

Playasjoint January 26th, 2006 09:22 PM

hey birdy (again) i sent him a pm to see what exactly it is you wanted me to see, but um, i hit ctrl alt del and watched my cpu usage, and it went up to 100% when LW was trying to load, is that a problem? i have 1024DDR?

birdy January 26th, 2006 09:50 PM

You will need to uninstall LimeWire and Java go to Start/Control Panel/Add and Remove Programs and uninstall them. Make sure you uninstall all versions of Java.

Then go to Start/My Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Documents and Settings/User Name/Application Data/LimeWire and delete the LimeWire folder.

Now reboot your computer and go to the links below and get LimeWire and Java and save them to your hard drive use the off line installers.

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

Now with that done install Java then reboot your computer now install Java. If this doesn’t work then the next step is to uninstall everything and edit your registry. The tool that LonestarSecurity referred to in the link that birdy left appears to be a pretty good tool. You can get it at this link. http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm is called RegSeeker 1.45

Click on the Find in registry line then type in java delete all the java entries it finds then reboot. If it does its job you will probably have to download Java and LimeWire again it will probably detect the Java installer and Java in the LimeWire installer. If it were me I would just delete those two installers before I edit the registry.
