no search results at all!! annoying!
 

i have recently installed limewire on my pc which uses windows xp. however, when i type in what i want to search for the item in question fills up with navy but nothing appears in the search results box below. i have tried to search many different items but these also have no results. i have installed and uninstalled limewire but with no joy! i would be greatful if anyone had any adivce on this matter!

Try deleting the LW preferences folder (while LW is closed). Instructions in here:

when i first downloaded limewire i had problems connecting so i configured my firewall settings. then however the programme did not find any results for the subjects i have asked for. the lime logo in the corner did spin whilst the search was being carrie dout but no results. i deleted the preferences folder and restarted but this has not helped either. i then read that disabling the tip box when limewire is launched could also help but this has not worked!!!
if anyone knows what the problem maybe could the please get in touch!!! thank you!

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

im new and well i just got the LW 4.[something with dots and numbers]

anyway
i have windows xp

so on my account my LW works just fine and dandy along with my brothers

but...
my dads account doesent display search results and i dont know why

i checked[ it took well over an hour] and made our two limewire programmes the EXACT same [exept for the port used]

so i dont know why mine workes but my dad's doesent
i sooo need a very simple answer because im pretty stupid when it comes to this kinda thing

the only thing im realy good at on a computer is being to be able to find bout anything on theinternet wheather be it a spesific piture of a type of car to how many people live in luxenbourg to what is the biggest word [witch i really have found to be 1,930 letters long :eek: ] or be it pi to 1,000,000 deimal places

so if u could help me then fine

The same is happening to me. I have just DLed Limewire, version 4.10.5. I had trouble iwth java so i DLed the offline installation. Then Limewire can now be opened. But when I search, ZERO RESULTS!!! At the bottom part, it said that Limewire has detected a firewall. But I have no firewall. I deactivated Windows Firewall a;ready and restarted.

Oh the OS is Windows XP and I just use dial-up.
