Ive been using LW for about a year and a half with no problems. I even used it as recently as 3 days ago. Yesterday, and today, when I've tried to connect, suddenly "there's a firewall." But there's not! I dont use windows firewall, my norton is configured, and ive even turned norton off to see if that would work. nothing is working! i tried all the little tests and such in the sticky thread, but still cannot connect. i tried a few other gnutella programs and couldnt connect to those either. its annoying, cause i can ALWAYS connect, and now i cant. i have windows xp service pack 2, norton security '05, um, a really fast broadband connection with a surfboard modem, and no router. i get really fast torrent and LW downloads normally, but suddently LW is off limits. wtf?!

ok, all's i did was go to limewire's tools-->options-->connections and turned off "Connect on startup" and now i'm gettin turbo-charged connectivity again. which is messed up...but i'm a happy camper again!

How did you access Limewire's "tools"? I can't even get the thing to load. It was working fine for the past year, now it just tries to load and quits. Anyone else having this problem? Did something change?

Try deleting the preferences folder while LW's closed. Also try updating Java using the Offline installer. Instructions here:

well, i'm angry again. my computer once again refuses to connect me. i was on for about an hour today, getting less than 10 kb/s downloads. then that all dried up and i was kicked off. anyone have reccomendations for something that DOES NOT run on the gnutella network, cause i'm fed up with this ****...

Well i have read through all these posts and have tried deleting the limewire profile settings, turning off my firewall & reinstalling limewire and I still cant connect anymore 4 no apparent reason. Can anyone help me
