Please help I am currently running on WindowsXP and have limewire version 4.10.5 i am having alot of issues with connecting to limewire it states i dont appear to have a connection..........but i do what could i possibly do to solve this i NEED limewire i also have already tried many methods such as deleting the ".limewire" file and restarting limewire didnt work and the connect at start-up and self connect thing didnt work either |
Have a look here for basic connection tips: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 Make sure your firewall's configured for LW & that you're only running 1 firewall (2 will cause probs). Check out whether your modem/router uses UPnP. If it does, turn it on in the router & also use it in LW ( tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Tick 'use UPnP & apply). Do the port test. All this stuff's in the thread:D |
im sorry that didnt help much it still wont let me connect to limewire ive been connecting for the past couple of years than one day it just stopped same thing happened to my friend but my other friends limewire works i tried frostwire also it wont let me connect either why cant i connect? |
Has your ISP changed their policy on p2p? What's your setup Win XP Firewalls you're using? Connection type (cable, dial-up etc)? Java version (help > about LW & it'll tell you)? ISP? Connecting from (home, work etc)? Modem/router brand & model? Do you share a connection with other computers? Did you do the port test? What did it say? |
yeah your right its my isp i have optimum online and my friend has the same isp and we both cant get limewire to recognize our internet connection do you know any way around this? by the way i took the test it said nothing was wrong |
i called my isp and they said they do not block p2p networks so i have no idea now why my limewire wont recognize my internet connection i dont have any known firewalls somebody have any ideas on what might be wrong? |
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. |

Remember, XP has its own firewall. So ensure it is either configured for LW or disabled totally. Make sure your Linksys router is set for UPnP. You didn't specify the model, but here's a quick example of how to do Linksys UPnP setting (click on link) BTW if you have a linksys wrt54g, then manual port forwarding might be needed. If you tried FW also & also your friend can't connect through the same isp then it sounds suspicious. Try this program, bearshare lite & see if it connects. If not, then the problem may well be your isp after all http://www.filehippo.com/download_bearshare_lite/ BTW isp's will not normally tell you if they're blocking or filtering p2p. |

I suggest you make a nuisance of yourself. Find someone who REALLY knows what their talking about and find out what is going on. ... and If you find out anything definite ... please let us know :) Of course your problem may well be one that Birdy and LOTR have been talking about, all along:) |
It's Optimum It's Optimum!!! They did it in December for almost two weeks and again for about a week in January! There is no fix and their customer service is full of it. They have recieved enough complaints about it and still deny any knowledge. |
I've been a bit slow to wake up, but in any case it was all pointing to the this issue. ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire I did check the thread earlier but thought they were listed further down the page, which they are. But a different point made. |
