Connection Query?
 

Has anyone encountered this before - I've been using Limewire for over a year no with no problems what so ever.....until last week! If I use LW at say 8.30am I have the full 5 connection bars and can download at around 50 kps................come to use LW after 5pm for example and I get 1 connection bar with no downloads or even searches available!!!! Has anyone encountered a 'time' problem before and what can I do about it? Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like an ISP issue. Either you're hitting peak period or ... your isp is deliberately putting the breaks on by applying special p2p filters that limit the bandwidth particular p2p programs can use (sometimes they totally block the program from connecting at all!) They do this to manage bandwidth. Some isp's, particularly in USA but also in Europe, have difficulties managing the bandwidth & traffic they're capable of. So to combat it, they attack the highest bandwidth users such as game or p2p users.

But there's also a chance (as hinted in the 1st point), that the traffic on your local line is too busy .. peak period. Especially true for cable users who run off the same line from the local offshoot point.
