I'm having trouble figuring out what's blocking the connection Whenever I start limewire up I get a message saying that there is a firewall blocking the connection. I tried turning windows firewall off but that didn't work. I also tried shutting down the microsoft antispyware, the norton symantec antivirus, and the ewido security suite but even with all of those shut down I still was not able to find anything. |
Turn off XP firewall. Configure Norton firewall to allow LW. See Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) Also make sure your modem/router's UPnP is enabled. See that section in the link. |
that doesnt work, the isp is blocking limewire from us! |
I think it's my college firewall that is blocking the connection since I turned off the xp firewall, I realized I just have the norton symantec anti-virus, not the firewall, and my UPnP is enabled on my computer |
Many if not most colleges nowadays block or shape p2p program use. So .. only choice might be use it elsewhere or try a proxy. See A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Particularly page 2. |
