Default Can't get a connection

I'm running Xp Pro with Norton Personal FW directly connected to a Belkin F5D7231-4P wireless router via a cable modem. Windows firewall is deactivated. Routers firewall is disabled and a port setup to allow GNUtella through the router. If I connect to the cable mode and bypass the router I can connect fine, this rules out a problem with Nortons FW. When connected to the Belkin router I cannot connect. The routers log shows multiple entries:
Sun Feb 26 20:21:58 2006 1 Blocked by DoS protection
Sun Feb 26 20:22:03 2006 1 Blocked by DoS protection
Sun Feb 26 20:22:06 2006 1 Blocked by DoS protection
Sun Feb 26 20:22:06 2006 1 Blocked by DoS protection

The router seems to interpret the connection attempts as a Dos attack. Does anyone who has a Belkin router seen this problem or know how to fix it? The routers FW feature is disabled so it should not be trying to block DoS attacks.

Does anyone know how to get arounf this problem?

Norton's is more than enough firewall.
Try putting yourself in the router's DMZ.
It's page 62 of your manual.

Already tried that ... didn't work. I still get the same protected by Dos protection messages in the routers log.

Any more ideas?

So how do you have LW set? In the Advanced>Firewall section, is it set to UPnP or Manual port forwarding or Do Nothing? If your router doesn't support UPnP or it's unreliable, then try choosing manual port forwarding. And set LW accordingly. You'll see instructions here http://portforward.com/english/route...P/Limewire.htm

I've tried all three UPnP, manual and Do Nothing with the same results. If I connect directly to the cable modem it works fine. The router acts like it's FW is still on but it says disabled.

Have you checked for a firmware upgrade for your device? That firmware might be buggy. Just a thought. But upgrading firmware usually has improvements in performance.

There's no point in setting LW to UPnP if your router's UPnP option is not enabled. You'd need to enable it on your device 1st. Also with manual port forwarding. I presume you set up a Static ip before you started with the manual port forwarding. Or is this what you did. If so, then I don't know.

I have a static address, UpnP setup on the router and I've been trying to check the firmware. Belkin doesn't have a very intuitive site. Thanks for your help.

Yeah I see what you mean it's not easy to find drivers. But I found this if it's of any help: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSecti...tion_Id=201522 & select model & click link, then click on drivers link underneath the model.

Or is this your model? http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=184855
Is yours the USB model?

If you wait thru about an hour of automated atenndant h#$% you will be told about http://networking.belkin.com from this site you can access the firmware if it's available. It's not for the F5D7231-4P. The loaded fw is 1.00.02.test , this really gives me a warm feeling. I'm waiting on a second level support call back from Belkin. They said it would be 2-6 days before they called back.

Well that certainly confuses the heck out of me. What's this page about then: http://web.belkin.com/support/downlo...P&lang=1&mode=

It doesn't specify any particular version of the firmware so ... yeah I see what you mean about them being vague.
