Hi, I am new to this forum but not new to limewire, I just switched form adelphia 256k cable to Sprint DSL 1500k, my problem is that when I am downloading my connection drops to 0 frequently and then resumes, sometimes t does this, sometimes it doesn't, I attatched a pic to show you what mean, here's what I am using:

2Wire Wireless router
Sprint 1500k
Atheros Wireless card
Toshiba Satellite
30 to 40 feet away W/excellent connection
Limewire 4.10.0

Any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks!!

The pattern looks fairly normal, especially for a download with multiple hosts when each supplies a chunk as it becomes available (Partial File Sharing).

I know what you mean by partial file sharing but when all my downloads simoltaneosly drop to zero and my internet browser says that it couldn't find server and requests a static IP when the internet connection drops to zero? I even disabled partial file sharing, still nothing, It's never done this before to me, I've always had a steady stream, NEVER up and down like it has been. Any other ideas?

You've misunderstood Stief's explanation. Stief is refering to the hosts you're downlding from. You're downlding it as they are via "their" partial file sharing. If you're downlding an already downlded file from a no. of hosts rather than via partial files, then your speeds will be a little more consistent.

Edit: Sorry Stief, last I looked you'd gone offline. I was surprised to see you suddenly reply. Your explanation would have been much better than mine!

"Any more ideas?" Not really.

Macs had a problem with DNS server lookups a while back. That's the first thing that comes to mind. Second idea is that the modem (or the OS) cuts out if some connection limit is reached.

Sorry. Someone else might be more familiar with your setup.

ok, but that still doesn't explain why I can't browse the internet when the connection drops to zero, I'm beginning to think it's my ISP? this really sucks because it takes a while for the connection to go back up to where it was, I attached another pic that shows it a little better, thanks again for all of your help!

What Network adapter are you using and what driver version if you are using Marvel Yukon the link below may help. If the first 2 links looks familiar the the answer is in the 3rd link.

I have an atheros AR500 4g wireless card 802.11, I can't find any updated drivers for it though, could the driver be the problem? thanks again for all your help!
