Update: *phantom* firewall & Optimum Online

Hello,

About a week ago, I posted an issue I had been having with my Limewire showing a *phantom* firewall even though I had no firewalls enabled. And it was stuck at *staring connection*

I am an Optimum Online user with Windows XP and the latest edition of Limewire Pro and JAVA. I have a Belkin router and don't have firewall software.

I tried Lord of the Rings' suggestion to change my port number which worked for a little while but then after a couple of days no matter what I changed my port to, it still wouldn't connect.

So then, just out of sheer curiosity, I changed my router config on LW to MANUAL PORT FORWARD and used "6347" and changed the listening port to 65523.

Now I have no idea why or how that worked but I am now connected with a Turbo connection.

I just hope it lasts. Anyway, I wanted to offer this up to anyone else who is having problems with LW and Opt. Online firewalls. I'll keep you all posted.

It may work for some people in the same region! ;) OOL covers many regions & different local offices may have different approaches for attacking the p2p high bandwidth issue. Thus there's probably different answers for different regions of OOL users.

Don't forget to look at these links http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=optimum

Will It Work For Me, Im In Texas?? If So , What Do I Do???

My apologies, I haven't checked out the regions & their specific issues. Best thing is to read as much as possible so you're aware of the options available.
