Limewire causes my DSL to crash

Limewire will cause my dsl to crash - I have no problems connecting. I'll start downloading (usually video that causes the problem) and it will cause my DSL to crash, and I then have to go and connect it. At first I figured it wasn't a big deal, because it didn't happen that often. It happens often now. Usually, now, when it crashes, I'll reconnect, and it crashes again before Limewire has a chance to reconnect. I used to have a cable modem, and it never did this. I live in an area now where I can't use cable (the company won't install in my location). I tried the connection troubleshooting posts already, and deleting my preferences folder did help, for a while, then it started crashing again. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Speed & disable Ultrapeer mode. This won't be any good for anybody including yourself if your computer is crashing. Also go to Tools>Options>iTunes & disable iTunes importing & sharing options.

If you have over a thousand incomplete files, then it might be wise to weed out those that are at zero %. ie: Arrange files in the downld window by Progress by clicking that column heading & select all those at 0% & pressing cancel. Then go to your incomplete folder on your computer & arrange be size. Delete all those at zero-15 KB. You can find your way there by going to the Library window, selecting incomplete folder & pressing the Explore button.

No luck with that, thanks though.

Try reducing your upload & download bandwidth a little. Also reduce your number of simultaneous downloads.

Windows XP, Limewire Version 4.10.9, and Java version 1.5.03_03

Verizon is who supplies my DSL, but I don't use an ISP as far as AOL or anything like that. My browser is firefox.

The deleting of preferences folder does work, for a while. But it gets old deleting my preferences folder every day.
