Connection Problem- Wont Being (IMPORTANT)

I have read all there is to be read and tried all there is to be tried which is possible based on the knowledge i hold.

When i click Limewire i get this error-

"Limewire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually do to a firewall program blocking Limewires access to the internet or loop back connections on the local machine. Please allow Limewire access to the internet and restart Limewire."

I have turned off all firewalls, and i believe it is my ISP.

Stats-
Windows XP SP 2
Verizon Provider
D Link Router- DI-624

Please help me i have been reading and trying for weeks

Your router probably has a firewall. Have you tried setting up your router for UPnP. Try the instructions here: http://support.dlink.ca/ProductFAQView.asp?FAQID=1004

More info here: Connection problems? Check here first!

the UPNP is enabled :*( though nothing works.

i read about making the firewall on your router automatically accept the limewire port?

Do you have LW set for UPnP? In LW go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config, tick "Use UPnP" hit apply.

Edit: Are you connecting from work or school? If so they may be blocking p2p apps.

My other thought would be that your isp is shaping/blocking p2p, but I have Verizon also and don't have any problems. You could call them and ask though they may not tell you if they do:confused:.

Have you tried the fixes in here: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should!. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed point #2 in that link.

wondering why May 25th, 2006 05:07 PM

You could try to Port Forward..
This link will take you to the instructions you need to do this for your DI-624

Just remember there's a DI 624 and a DI 624+ (I'm guessing this version is an upgrade?) on the portforward page.

Have you ever done the port test to check whether LW's default port is blocked?
