Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
12. Try downlding a magnet link & tell us what happens: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? (see sample image attachment below)

I did see this about your isp which is quite old.

i did the test and it says the test worked.
tried downloading the magnet but it says 'external application muz be launch to handle magnet' when i click ok the file appears on limewire but it status remains at connecting.

1. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

2. Did you enable UPnP for your linksys? Check your model here under section 2 here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...sBEFW11S4.mspx for specifics but choose port 6346 or else one between 49152 - 65535

LW has nothing to do with your connection. That's between your set up & your isp's agreeance to p2p. If yours doesn't shape p2p then good! But some do!

If you still get a firewall icon after setting up your xp firewall & setting up UPnP on your linksys then consider manual FF: Find your model & firmware version here http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
