The blue world has a wall in front of it, but when i disable my firewall LW still says its behind a fire wall
and yes windows FW is switched off
I have a windows XP HE OS

Modem Thomson speedtouch 330 USB PPP
I connect from home
Using Norton internet security 2006 with firewall on and Limewiire enabled
I do not share with any other computer
i have been using Limewire for about 12mths before this occured
ISp is Virgin/NTl???? who knows now. they aint very helpful
I have treid the 6346 test page and it worked.
Recently had bearshare loaded and this worked although i have now unloaded it because i want to get LW working again.
any offers here are most welcome.

This may or may not make a difference but try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Make a note of any important settings because once you delete the LW prefs folder, you'll need to reset all your options once you re-open LW! ;)

BTW is your speedtouch a USB connection?

Recheck Norton: Configuring Norton Internet Security

One thing you can try after this is go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the Listening port to one between 49152 - 65535 such as 64049 for example. ;)

Edit: I did notice them mentioned here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/caps.htm because the offer specific plans of total allowable downlds per month. It doesn't say what they do if you pass the limit.

Yes my Speedtouch is a USB connection. Deleted the folder as you say but still no luck. changed the listening port also Norton is configured to permit all for the fire wall turned firewall off but LW still says it is behind a firewall. one green bar and no luck. when i have rest my preferences and LW starts up i get an error message saying "Limewire was unable to start the Digital audio acess protocol service ( for sharing files in itunes) this feature will be turned off. dont know if it is connected to this problem but still cant connect :-(

erm ... yes I've had that error before also. I'd suggest you disable iTunes sharing options. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>iTunes & disable all. Press apply in all cases!

If you have an ethernet card & your speedtouch has that option then I'd highly recommend using ethernet in comparison. USB often draws both power & CPU from the computer, it is also slower than ethernet. See pointers about USB modems in section 3.4 here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...cfm?t=86201#r5

It could be your ISP is suddenly targeting LW. How long ago did this problem start?

See if you can connect & downld a magnet link from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml
Tell us what happens. ;)

Hi
It started about 3mths ago my ISP is Virgin and they are saying that the LW programme will work on the virgin.net network. tried downloading these files before and all i get is a message in the download box saying waiting for stable connection. or need more sources and just one green bar. think i have had it :-(((((
