Its impossible to connect or download something

 Hi!!! Well, this thread is probably answered somewhere else, but my connection screws up at this time of the day, so im going to ask my question here. I have limewire pro 4.10, and when i try to connect it never does, and it never downloads the files. It used to work but i dont know why its not working now. This same problem happens with emule and some websites like habbohotel. Im pretty sure its not an isp problem, cause i changed my isp and it still screws up. It has something to do with my computer. I made the ip test you gave me and it didnt work. So please help me!!!!:( :(:(:(

wondering why June 3rd, 2006 09:44 PM

It could be a Java issue as my daughter plays habbohotel and I noticed it uses Java...
What Java are you running at the moment??

melitica June 4th, 2006 11:45 AM

Nop, not java

Well, i use java2se, but im pretty sure limewire has nothing to do with that.. I think its not a java issue. cause like i said, it used to work, both p2p softwares.

Ok, I'll Put My Problem Again With All The Specs Of My Pc, I Need Help!!!!

Ok, if you didnt read my problem, i'll put it again. Limewire never connects or downloads a single thing. That's basically it.

I have
-Wndows XP Home Edition
-I have windows firewall only, and its disabled
-I have 512 mb of ram.
-My hard disk space available is 83gb
-My connection type is cable modem
-My modem is Motorola USB Modem, not sure about my router
-im connecting from home
-i have limewire PRO 4.10
-My ISP is called icecelular and they dont block Gnutella
-I have emule installed and i never use it when i try to run limewire, but this one does'nt work either.
-I made the test you gave me and it didnt work.

So, after i placed all this things in a new thread i hope this time i get the help i need.

Sometimes you have to be patient. We're all volunteers here & it takes time to answer so many questions.

You said you made the test. Was it this port test?
http://www3.limewire.com:6346
If that's the test that didn't work, something is blocking LW's default port. Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue earth)?

Have you been through this sticky?
Connection problems? Check here first!
Since emule doesn't work either, I'd be suspicious of your ISP. Do you know anyone who has the same ISP & uses p2p successfully? It would help to know the brand & model numbers of both your modem and router.

Have you tried changing to a higher port? There are instructions & info here
Alternative Ports

I only said it maybe a Java issue what update do you have....
You can also try deleting your preference folder...
Do step 1 first and if that doesn't work do steps 2 and 3 in this thread....

Please let us know how you go after that....;)

It may be your ISP (internet service provider) causing problems. Who is your ISP? Some will shape or block p2p use during peak hours.

If it was his ISP why wouldn't he be able to access a site like Habbohotel

If it's a gaming site ... maybe that's why. Yes some ISP's do target gaming users because like p2p, it also can potentially use large amounts of bandwidth. Gaming forums get complaints about isp issues such as bandwidth shaping.
