As you know, we can't get your ISP to remove their upload filters.

I had to sign up with a competitor to show my ISP that their filters were interrupting my uploads, just like yours.

Thanks to the head of help desk, the internet admins worked out a way to put my cable modem on an unfiltered line, so I stayed with them rather than switch to the competition.

Try signing up with the competition (many offer a free 2 month trial), and see if that helps.

If you want to know *how* the ISP's filter the uploads, google for "Sandvine." For *why?*, Google aslo has many articles on "bandwidth shaping."

Well I wrote a letter to my Shaw provider outlining my situation here with them and got this answer back: ( so it looks like I am back at square one..)

Shaw does not filter any data that is being uploaded. We don't pose
restrictions other than the total bandwidth used per month. As it stands
the limit is set at 60 Gigabytes/month for uploading and downloading
combined and you are well below this limit. Rest assured we are not
limiting your uploads.

There are numerous variables involved with connection issues. Please
note that the people trying to take data from your computer subscribe to
different ISP's. As Shaw does not control other provider's servers we
can't really properly diagnose since Shaw can only administer to its own
servers.

We can tell you that recent tests to your modem connection all passed
with flying colors therefore indicates no problems at Shaw end. What
this tells us is that the outside people trying to take data from your
computer are experiencing problems at their ISP level or are
encountering congestion somewhere along the route to get to your
computer. It is they that will have to notify their providers if their
connection keeps disconnecting.

ttodd, go to Google & search for Ellacoya. They provide a kind of traffic shaping technology (think it's called Deep Packet Inspection?) which Shaw are using
