Check out this thread
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ack+connection

Follow LOTR's advice there. If nothing helps, post back with your details (as specified within that thread) & whatever fixes you tried, that didn't work:)

wpdog2005 June 5th, 2006 06:13 PM

nothin worked:(

birdy June 5th, 2006 06:15 PM

Did you try reinstalling Java using the offline installer?

Where are all your details???

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 06:20 PM

'firewall and loopback connection' is what it suggests. A firewall issue. But updating your Java will help. We can't offer much advice without details as birdy suggested.

wpdog2005 June 5th, 2006 06:27 PM

1. windows xp
2. windows and thats it unless u count aol
3. 512 ram
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. cable
6. modem:rca router:belkin g54
7. home
8. 4.10.9
9. comcast
10. no
11. some what 1st try
12. it worked

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 06:37 PM

Do you have more details on the model number of your Belkin device? I don't believe they support UPnP. You may need to forward a port manually on your device.

birdy June 5th, 2006 06:42 PM

Have you double checked that your XP firewall is configured properly?
Firewall setup

How do you have your router set up? Is UPnP enabled or have you been port forwarding? I can't find any info on your router, let alone anything to tell me if it's got an internal firewall:confused:

What changed between when LW was working & now... any new hardware, anyone come in to fix your pc?

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 06:52 PM

http://172.16.32.1 should be the log in address for your device. This will also show the exact model number after you've logged in.

wpdog2005 June 5th, 2006 08:16 PM

router model is f5d7230-4

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 08:19 PM

Thank you. Follow the F5D7230-4v7.01 instructions here carefully: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...1/Limewire.htm
Remember you'll need to set up a static ip before you do the port forwarding otherwise it won't work. Instructions on how to do this included. ;)

BTW if you don't have the F5D7230-4v7.01 then see F5D7230-4 here http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm

After this you may need to save the settings in your router & also reboot ... I'm not sure about your brand. But you'll also need to restart LW after you have completed the process. ;)

wpdog2005 June 5th, 2006 08:21 PM

i did the upnp thing and it didnt help i checked my windows fire wall and the box is checked n the only thing i can think of that changed it is my norton firewall was a trial version but after it it let me on it till my step mom touched the comp but every once in a blue moon like i said it will let me on but then when i log off it later it is no longer lettin me on

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 08:24 PM

Try the port forwarding instead. Yes your norton might also be an issue.

wpdog2005 June 5th, 2006 08:35 PM

how can i port foward if i dont know what port limewire is using

Lord of the Rings June 5th, 2006 09:08 PM

By default LW uses port 6346. But you can also try any between 49152 - 65535 such as 64049
