Upgrade has ruined everything!

Ok so I've been using Limewire Basic 3.10 for like 6 months with no problems.

Last night the program suggested I download the new 3.12 upgrade and know the program won't even start. The splash screen just appears and then it just freezes.

Tried doing a system restore but it just won't work anyone got any suggestions on how to get it working or how to get a copy of the old version?

Hi there,

Me too i upgraded to 4.12 on my desktop pc and i am having problem with connections. On the other hand on my laptop which is connected to the net through my desktop i have the old version 4.10 and it's working quite well. I dont think it's a firewall problem cos i have norton and i have even disabled personal firewall and the problem is still the same. Can anyone help out there?

Could you include more details about your system.

Sorry for any repeats

1. What's your connection like - do you have any green bars at all?
Is there a brick wall in front of world ?

2. Do this test & see if it works. What does it say ?

3. What are your details

OS ? (Win XP, Mac OSX etc.)
How much free harddiskspace ?
How much RAM ?
LW & Java version ? (In Limewire press Help>about LW & you'll see)
What Firewall you're using ?
Modem/router brand & model ?
ISP (Internet Service Provider) ?
Connection type ? (modem, DSL etc) + Speed Up/Down if you know
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Has Limewire ever worked for you ? If so how long have you been using it ?

Have you tried using any other P2P apps & if so, do you have the same problems ?

Also include any attempts to fix this. It helps people rule things out

Could you check your Java on the computer that works and see if it's the same version as the one in trouble ?

BTW are you using portforwarding? If you are then check if the listening port in Limewire may have changed on you.

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Other than that (for the moment) ... try sleepless's advice.

You need to install the old version!

Hi all

Yes, this is ture, as I am a limewire user with DSL bandwide for more than 1 year. These days there always a shining lines shows my limewire needs to be update. Therefore, I trid to updated to the version 4.12.3, but after installing this new version. I could not finding anything on it. No video, no audio, nothing pop up.

At the begining, I guess it's the connetion problem with my network, so I checked out the problem shooting from limewire offical web, but it doesn't help. After hours researching and checking the settings, finally, I decided to reinstall the old version which it works again!

Here, I stressed that if you are the limewire basic user, please do not update your program to 4.12.3, stick with your old version is fine. I also suggest if you do not have the old version anymore, you could find it on google easily.

Remember, do not update anymore, the old version under 4.12.3 is perfect for your needs.

If you have any needs or assistance, please feel free to send me a mail at [edit]. Thanks!

Cheers

Send me a personal message by clicking on my username & I can send it. That's safer than googling because you don't know what virus adjusted version you might end up with.

Nothing but problems....

So, I downloaded v. 4.12.3 and I've had nothing but problems with it....

#1. Downloads are way slower than previous versions
#2. Limewire is now using anywhere from 75% to 97% of my CPU's memory so it slows EVRYTHING down. I can barely even surf while Limewire is running.
#3. Limewire closes and shuts all on its own -- If I'm downloading a larger file, it used to be that I'd start it before I go to bed and it would be done by morning. NOW, Limwire won't even stay running that long and it has ALWAYS shut itself down by the time I check it in the a.m. I've checked the settings, and I don't see any option to change this!

AAAAARRRGGGHHHH!

My first reaction is to just delete this version and find the previous one because it worked like a charm. But I'm hoping to find some help for these issues with 4.12.3.

Thanks!
