Please do not update limewire
 

Hi all

Yes, tell you one thing today, as I am a limewire basic user with DSL bandwide for more than 1 year. These days there always a shining lines shows my limewire needs to be update. Therefore, I trid to updated to the version 4.12.3, but after installing this new version. I could not finding anything on it. No video, no audio, nothing pop up.

At the begining, I guess it's the connetion problem with my network, so I checked out the problem shooting from limewire offical web, but it doesn't help. After hours researching and checking the settings, finally, I decided to reinstall the old version which it works again!

Here, I stressed that if you are the limewire basic user, please do not update your program to 4.12.3, stick with your old version is fine. I also suggest if you do not have the old version anymore, you could find it on google easily.

Remember, do not update anymore, the old version under 4.12.3 is perfect for your needs.

I guess you really don't understand what i am talking about here, maybe you are not a limewire user. Please install one and give it a try! I think you will learn something from it!

Ok, so I'm a member of this forum and help people with their Limewire problems, BUT I dont use Limewire :rolleyes: give me a break....
For one just because you have had troubles installing the latest version of LW, doesn't mean everyone will and if they do they can get some pretty accurate advice from members of this forum on solutions to help them..
Oh and another thing DO NOT ADVISE anyone to google search an older version of limewire, we have enough problems with scam sites offering versions that have been filled with spyware and charge for the basic version..
My suggestion to you would be to do some further research, before shooting off at the mouth.....:mad:

thanks for your advise, yes, I did the updated yesterday which drived me crazy that i could not find anything with the new version, so I followed what you suggested here.

Btw, Wondering why, if you are not using limewire,please keep silent! You are not qualify to telling the sh*t here! You even don't have a name! So does UK Bob, you are not supposed to judge those newbnies, you are just nobody here. If you want to get more respect here from those newbies. I guess you should contribute something useful to this forum, not just judging & reduced people's motivation to publish something. Your mom doesn't teach you that when you grow up, does she? If you read my posts carefully I do use Limewire and I do know what I'm talking about...

Seems more and more people has update problem these, so more and more people looking for some help for using the limewire again.

Also, ok, wondering why, maybe I will do more research before telling people something, but what I did that day could make things works again? May I know what happened? Some people also encountered the same problem as well, right?

WW has given some very good advice in this thread, sure some people may not be happy with one version of LW but don't just go looking for another version using Google!! Just imagine how many infected copies of LW are floating around... nobody wants a virus, do they?

How do you manage to find all of these idiots. I guess they know everything like if you install a new version of LimeWire you will need to reconfigure your firewall to allow the new version of LimeWire. I guess they know that the old exception will not work for the new version. Of course they know if they are port forwarding they will need to set up new ports for the new version. Or any of the other configuration tricks like the .limewire folder. Of course they know these things they know it all and the 4.12.3 version is a piece of ****. Funny it works great for me. I must be a real dumb ***. :D

I wasn't going to get involved in this thread anymore because, as you said, the three trolls seemed "strikingly similar" and it doesn't really pay to feed trolls, even one with a three way personality.

Dare I say it. Get a reliable Linksys router or modem. Not one of those disliked here under the UPnP section of Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) with a no. of 54g but one of the others that is a proven winner. I've never tried Linksys but most reports are positive toward them (except a particular series.) Better than many.

Guangzhou, Guangdong or there-abouts. So that's 2 mods who found the same results. Also have their timezone on the forums set to China's time. ;) :D And yes, all 3 have same ip. So if I ban one ip, it will ban all 3 members. Shall we try it for good measure. :D

Instead of arguing with each other which we are not here for, i think it would be better for us to respect each and everyone opinion here. WW, UKBOB, KATW n GRANDPA stop all your insinuation. Dixon79, HK.emma & joytt before you say ppl not to upgrade i think you should try and test all the possibilities. I,myself could not connect to LW after i upgrade, i was becoming mad then when i followed the instruction of foolofthehill, now my LW is working perfectly, try it!!!!!! I hope that all of you know what we are doing here is to help each other.

Ok, but there still one thing I do not understand, some of my buddies had updated to 4.12.3, which really didn't work, also without any firewall or setting problems. after that, they got back to older version, and it works again. Does anyone knows why? So should I update to 4.12.3 again or is there any skillful setting for the lastest version?

Please feel free to speak out!!! and let's work for the solution together, not dig in the difficulties anymore. Thanks!

4.12.4 should be out today, to fix a lockup in a vital thread.
If it works, everybody with 4.12.3 will be prompted to upgrade.
