Cant connect-Recently started using a router..? :(

I cant connect anymore, Im using LIMEWIRE PRO 4.10.5
It comes up and says "starting connection" but doesnt connect.
I THINK*This started when I started using a router so i think it may be blocking it. I had norton and everything before and it was fine. Can i still use it with a router or I cant aymore ? :(
Thanks for your help

You will have to either set it to UPnP or forward a port. See this thread for help: Connection problems? Check here first!.

If you run into problems, post back with the make and model of the router.

i found this, but when i did the "admin" and no password it didnt come up with anything. it said unauthorized... I dont know.Where do i find the IP of the router?

6_pac July 22nd, 2006 11:44 PM

Try setting it up for UPnP. This site has instructions for doing it: http://support.dlink.ca/ProductFAQView.asp?FAQID=1004

Also in limewire go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config, make sure it's set for UPnP.

This one might be a better link:http://www.neovilla.com/d-link-upnp.html

do i need to enter a password..because the website says leave it blank....im so confused.lol

wondering why July 22nd, 2006 11:52 PM

try using 192.168.0.1.

If you need to Port forward here are the instructions for your router...;)

Are you an Administrator on your computer....

Sorry 6_Pac I highjacked your thread, I didn't relise you were still on mate...:o

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:10 AM

I have no idea...I just turn the comp on , we dont sign in or anything..

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:12 AM

The first time i entered the IP, when a box came up, there was something in the password field.. i deleted it so maybe i actually needed the password? I think im going to ring DLINK tomorrow or something..

6_pac July 23rd, 2006 12:12 AM

Try using "admin" for both, or try "admin" for the username and "password' for the password. If you know the username and password you set up with your isp you could try using that.

Sorry 6_Pac I highjacked your thread

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:15 AM

wondering why July 23rd, 2006 12:16 AM

Well I'm a bit stumped as to where to go from here if you cant log into the Router.....

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:16 AM

aha! I got it! yay...

okay so now the DLINK window is up, Ill see if i can fix it following that website and check back...Thanks :)

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:18 AM

It says to enable the Upnp but it already is....?

wondering why July 23rd, 2006 12:19 AM

You will have to Port Forward then...
Follow the instructions carefully and make sure you set up your static IP...:)

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:32 AM

okay, so i think its done....
Limewire is working now! but it said the ip might reset itself after i restart the comp....

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 12:39 AM

Okay, I did the setting up static IP and webpages werent coming up so it says that means the numbers are wrong so im going to ring optus. Thanks for your help :)

wondering why July 23rd, 2006 01:47 AM

Are you from Oz vinylcrocodile....:)

vinylcrocodile July 23rd, 2006 01:55 AM

Yah, In sydney

wondering why July 23rd, 2006 02:00 AM

Good luck with Optus I hope there better than Bigpond lol....
With the static IP you have to copy down and place the correct numbers exactly were they tell you....;)

Lord of the Rings July 23rd, 2006 02:46 AM

Static ip should remain thus. If you haven't set it up correctly or didn't save your settings, then it isn't a static ip which might be why you received that message. I'm not sure how reliable DLink's UPnP is. My model doesn't have it. :( :D

If you're running LW on more than one computer, then you'd need to do a separate port forward for each computer using that same router & using a different port for each one.

Hi, Im having a really similar problem, I recently got a Router to connect me to the Internet, and Limewire wasnt working, so I decided to see how to fix it.
I followed some of the Intructions from this conversation and made it to this Link.

http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm

My Router is a D-Link G-54, but whenever I type in my IP Adress, 192.168.0.1 into my browser it comes up with a Motorola Cable Modem sign-in page. Motorola is the Broadband Modem I'm connected to, but i cant connect to my router, any ideas?
(I'm in Sydney, Australia connected to Bigpond via a Motorola Modem if that helps)
