what's a proxy (I really have no clue) I think I might be able to get LimeWire to work if I know what a proxy is. |
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/P/proxy_server.html This will explain.... |
So does LimeWire have a proxy address and if so what is it ? Just curious as I am trying out all of my options to make LimeWire work for me. |
LW doesn't have a proxy, besides I do not believe that you need a proxy at all. Your modem, is it outside the computer or inside (i.c the phonejack goes directly into the back of your pc)? To allow Lw access the network you have to include the limewire.exe into the exception of PCillin as well as the port LW uses to listen to. Go LW>Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Configuration and look on the right side which listening port it has (it's a number). You can trty to change this number to 6346, which is the usual listening port of LW.(click apply before OK) Then go back to the link about how to configurate your firewall and add this port as TCP and UDP (you'll have to to this two times, once for each) to the list. LW should be closed at this time. Then reboot and open LW. Aftyerwards you need to give it some time to settle down. Can be anything from 2-60 minutes. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
Somthing has finnally happened :D I now have 3 green bars instead of one, but I am unable to download anything because of my firewall, I still can't figure out how to get LimeWire thrugh it... |
I don't know what I did since I am trying a lot of different things but I appear to have made a little progress. I just did an audio search for XXXXXX and got five files with a four star rating, thanx to these forums and everyone's feedback. :D :D :D Still not downloading sadly, the progress bar won't pass 0% so I am not out of the woods yet. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Edited to comply with the House Rules. Have you tried disabling the firewall to make sure that is the problem. Also are you by any chance running the Windows firewall as well ? Also try adding limewire.exe as an exeption in the firewall options |
ok went into the control panel turned off windows firewall and the progress bar is still at 0% |
Let's concentrate on the connection first, then the downloads Did Limewire by any chance get any more green bars when you turned the windows firewall off ? |
