im gettin' very sick of this... Limewire doesnt work and its the same problem like everyone else seems to have .. the connection. I only get one green bar connection. I had this problem before, because a few weeks ago we had a virus and we decided to reinstall XP again. So all the files on our computer were lost. I reinstalled Limewire again and i had no problems for a day. The next day Limewire couldnt connect for more than 1 green bar. I looked up the forums, and i found the suggestion that i should delete the .limewire folder. I did that, with no luck. Then i tried this suggestion: Quote:
I only have one green bar connection and a brick wall in front of the globe. We only have one firewall and thats McAfee. And the most frustrating part is that on my computer we have five accounts, because its a family computer. And we all have Limewire and on all the four accounts of my brothers and parents, Limewire works perfectly. And they all have the brick wall in front of the globe. I tried to put the digits they have in their "Listen on port" in the Options>>Advanced>>Firewall Config. but that didnt worked either. My ISP is Wanadoo, but they've changed their name into Orange. I dont know what to do anymore... |
Hmm, since LW is detecting a firewall somewhere (with all accounts), we need to find out where this firewall comes from and how to configure it. The fact that the other accounts work despite the brickwall in front of the globe is in so far irrelevant, because it will block other people from uploading files you share; which is rather bad for a filesharing which should work vice versa. Besides, LW should always be running not being blocked by a firewall to increase the search results for you. The problem is that you haven't said so much about your system config., so I'll start there: Can you give us a total description of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
1. Windows XP 2. Only McAfee and i made sure that it doesnt block Limewire 3. 37.2 GB RAM 4. 29.3 GB 5. ADSL 6. Modem Alcatel Speedtouch 510v4 (image; http://bulfire.free.fr/510V4_Screenshot/510v4.JPG ) 7. Home 8. Limewire 4.12.3 & Java 1.5.0_03 9. Orange, former Wanadoo 10. No, just one computer and one p2p. 11. This is a new problem for a experienced user. 12. The test worked. |

I'm glad to hear that; and if you want to know where the brickwall comes from, go on reading here about the Alcatel: http://www.speedtouch.net.nz/ And if you ever have to protforward, then go here: http://www.portforward.com/english/r...BitTorrent.htm http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1.../Smilywais.gif |
