Connecting at WORK

Limewire works fine when I'm on my wireless router at home. But, When I bring my laptop to work and get on the wireless router here, it says that it cannot connect. What should I do?

It might be a work related firewall or p2p filtering.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Also, do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

"Test worked" and "yes"

It said that the test worked and yes I do see a brick wall

That firewall issue might be the problem. Do you normally see a firewall icon at home?

Try setting your listening port to one that's between 49152 - 65535

I'm not sure how this works whilst using UPnP. The best answer might be port forwarding. UPnP can decide its own listening port & can change.

"ok" and "huh?"

I'll try resetting my port like you said but that last part was giberish to me....sorry, I'm not too computer savvy

changing the listening port didn't help

Do you see a brick wall at home ?

The office will most likely have a firewall in their router

If they do I doubt that you can get through it without portforwrding

cyclinmd July 27th, 2006 05:46 PM

how does one go about portforwrding?

cyclinmd July 27th, 2006 05:46 PM

Cause I don't think there is a brick wall at home

Depending on what kind of connection they have and what kind of office it is, I'm not sure if they would mind you using Limewire at work

You could try and ask ;)
