Full Connection But No Sources Ever!!!

I dont know whats goin gon with LW.
Since I upgraded to the newest version, I have been having the same problem!
I get FULL connection every time. I find what I want to download (with the highest number of hosts).. Click on it.. tells me "connecting.........." and nothing happens! I have been trying for a week SOLIDLY to get some songs to download.. but still no luck! Eventually it just comes back saying waiting for sources or no sources - even tho there are over 90 hosts?!?! This is not on one song, but on MANY, thats why im thinking there has to be something wrong. I have no firewalls up.. so I dont know what the problem can be.
Any ideas?

This has been a major issue latley, there are so many fake files around at the moment it can get quite difficult to tell whats legit and whats not...
The best suggestion would be to download from a smaller number of hosts under 20 and try entering different phrases into your search....;)

wow! all I can say is thank goodness im not the only one with this problem!
I just hope that something will be done about this problem soon!!

I am going to try and download these files from a lower number of hosts and see if that works.. If not, look out for my next reply lol :)

thanks again!

ok - seriously - this still aint working.
Let me give you an example -
PINK - Who Knew (0 hosts for many - then there is one file there with 3 hosts but file seems to be incomplete, next above is 20 hosts..tried that with no success, next above is 25 hosts -

Orson - No tomorrow (same thing!! ) doesnt matter how low I go with the number of hosts..

I managed to get one file to download - Christina Aguilera -Aint no other man

Other than that - the rest look like all duds :(
This totally sucks!
Does anyone know if something is getting done to rectify this problem?!?

Same problem here :[
I've tried everything and I can't seem to get it to work.

Kinda the same

 I SOMETIMES get a full connection then it'll bounce between 1 bar and full. I have searched for files maybe 50 times and have received search results only 4 of those times. I have read all over this board and nothing fixes the problem. What gives? Does anyone have a clue?

I don't know about that..
I have full bars worth of connection, find the files in search, and then even when their are plenty of hosts it stays on "connecting..." and eventually goes to "need more sources." It does this no matter what file I try to download.

Try using different search terms, the more popular the song the harder it is to get...
ie. just type in the artist or just the song tiltle...
Experiment with it, thats what I do and if I cant get what I want.... I'll wait a few days and try again...;)

Caliginosity August 9th, 2006 01:25 PM

Well I've been trying different approaches such as that for quite a while now, but I'll try again and if the problem persists I'll post again. Thanks!

Cool...:)

Caliginosity August 9th, 2006 01:31 PM

Well.. I've pretty much just tried everything I can think of, again, and nothing's changed... ^^U

Exact same problem

I have the exact same problem as Calinginosty...I'm looking for the most popular songs out there right now and when I try to download them, it will say "Connecting..." for a while then it will come back as "Need More Sources" or "Awaiting Sources." All of these songs have over 90 hosts and they still aren't downloading! I've try to download them with a fewer number of hosts but, it's still not working! I've been trying for a week so, if anybody knows what's going on, please help!

Thanks

There are lots of fake files around just like you describe... new releases, heaps of sources, 'connecting' for ages but never downloading.

Search again. Vary your search terms, look for artist or album rather than song title. Try the All Types search, rather than Audio. Stay away from files with huge numbers of sources, I go for files with 10 sources or less;) With so many fakes around now, you'll just have to be patient & keep trying.

Could you please edit out the song titles & artist names in your post? These are copyrighted & so we're not allowed to mention downloading specific files Forum Rules. Thanks:)

New Version

 My thing is this, I never had ths problem until this new version of Limewire came out. I could download for hours with no problem but now hardly anything. I have managed, within the last 24 hours, to get some stuff but then I will have full connection then nothing. The files will be downloading very quickly and then go down to like 3KB/s. I do not understand the problem.

Might be your ISP (Internet Service provider) having checked on your monthly bandwidth use and decided to shape (throttel) the amount you are able to use at any specific time or in general over a period of a month.

I assume you've tried the things suggested in this and other threads regarding slow download speed (i.e. deleting the LW preference folder, updating Java with the newest JRE offline installer 1.5.0_07, trying to download a magnet link, etc.)

If not, you should try these things first before calling your ISP to ask whether they indeed shape your bandwidth (don't be surprised if they deny it; would be bad for puplicity)
