AFAIK the Belkin don't have a reliable UPnP implementation, thus port forwarding is probably your best bet. Find your model here http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm the most important step is the 1st one which is setting up a static ip.

BTW if you're running xp sp2 then see MS & 3rd party patches to improve your connections.

Sorry sleepless ... I'm a bit slow today ... lol

Scroll up to post #20 & answer Sleepless's questions (post back with the answers). Do the port test & see if it works.

Make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly
Firewall setup
Read through this thread, it's got heaps of info
Connection problems? Check here first! Your modem/router has probably got it's own internal firewall... check out the info about enabling UPnP & port forwarding.

Is the XP firewall turned off? Did you double check that the McAfee firewall's configured?
Try to find out the brand & model of your modem/router

Which one did you try... enabling UPnP or port forwarding?

Did you reboot the modem-router device after doing those changes? Many such devices require rebooting or restarting in order to make the changes & save them properly & to reset themselves to the new settings. And if you do port forwarding ... you MUST set up a static ip first before forwarding or else the entire process won't work!

When you log into your router (you would've had to do this to enable UPnP) , does it tell you the brand & model

Hey Botox... lookin' good!!!
