Default Firewall Issues

Hello! I am using Comodo Personal Firewall, and I have Limewire on the Trusted Applications List. I have my Windows Firewall turned off, and I cannot seem to get Limewire to recognize that there is no firewall on. I can search for music wonderfully, but when I click to download, nothing happens. I have followed the instructions given from the website to make sure the Gnuetella network was open, and the TCP and UDP Ports were open. I have a Turbo Charged Connection, and I do not understand why this is happening. I have also put my firewall on 'Allow All' and even tried different firewalls. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thank you very much!!

Yes there is a wall in front of the globe. It says that there is a Firewall Detected, but I don't see how there is. Thank you very much : )

There would be a NAT firewall built into your modem...
Take a look at this thread and follow the UPnP set up, if that doesn't work post back with the brand and name of your modem and we can help you Port Forward...

I got the model of my modem/router, and it isn't on any of those lists. It's a Netgear. I'm sorry to cause trouble. I just can't get this figured out. Thank you so much for your help! : )

MsPinkFreud

Unfortunately, most if not all modem/routers now have built in firewalls and it is this firewall that LW detects.

You will have to go through the "Port Forwarding" process to allow LW full access to the internet and P2P network, there is no other choice.

Therefore, go to this URL:

http://www.portforward.com/help/portforwarding.htm

Find your modem/router and follow the instructions to "Port Forward" LW.

I read about Port Forwarding, and I think I understand it, I just don't know how to do it. That page only explained what it is, it did not tell me how to go about doing it. Thank you very much! : )

You have to navigate your way to your modem/router model, still if you say you have a Netgear Router then try this URL:

http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm

You will find all the Netgear models on this page “Port Forwarding” has instructions for.

UK Bob

PS. Admittedly, it is not clear how to navigate from the main opening page to the information you want.
