Default Connection Problem?

I read the previous posts but i couldn't find the solution for my problem

When I open Limewire,
Like everyone else, it says "enabling open information sharing" at the top
so i change the firewall settings, to gnutella and "your test worked" page and stuff....
but since im using a wireless router, this computer is connected straight to the router (another computer is wirelessly connected), i think it's doing something there to prevent my limewire from working??
any solutions?

You'll always see "enabling open information sharing". It just is.
How many green connection bars do you see? Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe)?
If you're not connected, make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly
Firewall setup

There's a lot of good info here about connection problems & firewalls
Connection problems? Check here first!

What are your details?

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

Make sure your firewall's configured properly, read through the connection problems thread & post your details.

Have you tried port forwarding?
You'll need to set up a static IP address first, there are instructions within the link below.
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm
Afterwards, you'll have to go to LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config & choose the 'manual port forward' option (make sure you enter the same port number as LW's listening port) > apply.

Double check everything. Some routers need a save & reboot after changing settings... don't know if yours did? Did you make sure to set up a static IP address first?
Also sometimes it takes a little while for the connection to pick up & the firewall icon to disappear.

Within those instructions from I left you, it tells you to make sure to set up a static IP first & gives a link to the page with instructions for setting up the static IP.
http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

If you don't do this, port forwarding won't work. After you've set up the static IP, then go on to the port forwarding steps
