Still Nothing

I have tried EVERYTHING. I have had Lw for years but this version is stearing me toward a new file sharing app. I did notice that the NEW version of Morpheus has given me these same problems. My info is below:

OS - Windows xp
LW & Java version - 4.12.6 & 1.5.0_06
Firewall you're using - How do you determine this?
Modem/router brand & model - Toshiba Cable Modem
ISP - ???
Connection type - Cable
Where you connect from -Home
Are you sharing a connection with other computers - NO
Is this your first try with LW - NO I have had previous versions over the last 3years

HELP ME PLEASE. I CAN CONNECT AND THEN NOTHING, THEN IT CONNECTS, THEN IT WILL SEARCH BUT WILL LITTLE RESULTS, THEN SEARCH SOMETHING ELSE AND GET NO RESULTS BECAUSE THE CONNECTION HAS FAILED THEN i GET FULL GREEN BARS(full connection) BUT STILL NO SEARCHING OR DOWNLOADING. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL START DOWNLOADING THEN 10 MINUTES LATER THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN. WHEN I SHUT IT DOWN IT IS WORSE WHEN I RESTART.

wondering why August 25th, 2006 01:33 PM

Do you see a wall in front of the globe in Limewire???
Your ISP is your internet sevice provider...Who is this ???

I have the Windows XP Firewall and my service provider is CNS Cable. Only with this version have I had these problems. About 2 years ago I had a similar problem so I just quit up****** versions then one day I said , "OK, I'll get the new version". Since then a few problems here and there but this thing will sometime connect and then it won't. Also I tried deleting and then downloading the new version. Why does the "LISTEN TO PORT" # change when I do this?

If you're using UPnP, then the port it listens to can change. This doesn't affect anything normally.

Make sure XP's firewall is configured to allow LW;Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

As WW asked, do you see a brick wall at the bottom of LW's interface?

Yes. There is a brick!

The firewall issue will be either or both your software firewall or your modem/router's internal NAT firewall. Configure your XP firewall as suggested above. In regards to your modem/router, see if it has UPnP support. Check the UPnP section here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

But limewire has always had the UPnP thingy right. Why with the NEW version are so many of us having this problem? I have never had this problem before. And why would my modem start giving me trouble NOW?

ALSO, I have a TOSHIBA/PCX1100 Cable Modem that is pretty old. WIll that help you with anything?

What was the previous version of LW you were using? I don't see any extra people having problems. When LW brought in the firewall detection ability (last year some time), then people suddenly realised that they had never been properly configured.

If your device is very old, then chances are it does not support UPnP. Have you checked for firmware upgrades? I did find a similar model here http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
