Question please help.....firewall problems!!!!!

i have a laptop thats connected internet through a motorola model sb5100 as my router to the box telewest and having done some research on the router it doesnt have a firewall in its hardware.....my LW does show a globe with a wall .....i have just upgraded to the latest version (wish i didnt now) but didnt have any problems watsoeva with the previous version!
Could someone please advise me what to do!

Well if the problem is not your device then it's a firewall software issue. See section one here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

BTW in regards to the sb5100 there's this comment

If you fix this issue, then now your LW won't be firewalled as it was before. You maybe just didn't realise.

but LW still doesnt work.....

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? windows xp
2. What firewalls you have?norton virus(expired) n windows
3. How much ram?hw do i find that out
4. Hard Disk space available?1.09gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?motorola sb5100
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?home
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.4.12.6LW n 1.05.06java
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?telewest
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. no i have had the previous version before and it worked properly
12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? did it.....it said it worked fine

After upgrading, did you also update your Java installation and reconfigure LW in your firewall (if you run XP, the built-in firewall) as described in connection problems -click first:

To update your Java, you have to uninstall all previous versions, reboot, download the newest version from here using the JRE offline installer:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
Install it and reboot again.

If you had an older version of LW, you may also delete the preference folder of the old (and as precausion of the new as well) version as described here in Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire:

Thumbs up Thank You very much for your help

I just want to say thank you to you uys for helping me.......i only realised after doing much more digging in the firewall side of things to find i had another firewall under syngate personal firewall.....u can imagine the beam(smile) i had on my face when LW worked again.....ahhhhhhh!!!!
