Same old stuff, but help would be appreciated. Thanks. Hey, Basically, It's the same stuff i've been reading for the last 2 hours, and why my eyes started bleeding, lol. Limewire connects, farts about between fair, good, turbo-charged, excellent, starting, poor, for a long time. Everything that should be forwarded etc is. The ports are allowed through Windows firewall, although it's off. I don't use UPnP, i use manual forwarding, for which I have congured my router, and know for sure that it works. I use Norton Antivirus 2006 edn. Anything else you need to know? Thanks a lot. |
Are you by any chance connected as an UltraPeer If you are then try turning it off in the options. If I remember correctly it's under speed. Don't have Limewire installed in this Laptop Tools>Options>(Speed)? It's a checkbox where it says "Disable UltraPeer Capabilities" |
I was, but it has made no difference, also, that little firewall thing is still there, but i'm pretty sure that it's configured. I'm assuming that Norton Antivirus 2006 has a built in firewall, but somewhere in there i've added Limewire to a permitted list. |
Really can't see any other reason for this happening unless you have unstable internet. There is something wrong with your portforwarding if limewire has that brickwall there. go to tools>options>advanced>firewall config Make sure you have chosen manual port forward and type in the port you have forwarded in your router. Limewires listening port has to be the same number. BTW did you try restarting limewire after disabling UltraPeer status? Might help Also have you allowed limewire.exe in your windows firewall ? |
Also go to www.portforward.com Find the manual for configuring portforwarding for limewire in your router and go through the steps to see if you might have missed something |
maby you should try a diffrent type of forwarding upnp port forwarding works when not using upnp:Smilywais: |

Yep make sure both ports are exactly the same....:rolleyes_2: |
Well, I tried that, and it did it's wee jumping about connection levels thing, then back to starting and the wall is still there </3 lol I'ma cry. |
Something sounds like it went wrong when you Port Forwarded... What is the make and model of your Router... |
Its a BT Voyager 205. I have that port forwarded for torrents also, and it works fine there, and I used the port checker in the torrent, and it said it was opena nd receiving connections. |
You might have to set the LW Port numbers differently to the Torrent Port numbers, go through it again and see what happens.... |
I don't have both going simultaneously tho, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. I reloaded it, and the wall is gone, so that much has worked, but it won't connect still. |
Who's your ISP ... |
Bt Internet. |
I'm at a loss with this, maybe some more research into configuring your Norton may help... |
Yesterday it was working PERFECTLY, now today, it won't even connect. I'ma kill myself. Lol. |
Ok, I forwarded a new port just for Limewire, and also, I disabled my 1394 connection, and it's working perfectly now, and not only can I sign into MSN at the same time, which I NEVER could, but i'm on cam too, so i'm amazed, I only hope this lasts. |
