Default Weird Problem, please help :-)

Hello

I have a problem with my Limewire.. Everytime I close it, it opens itself up again! I've looked through the options, but can't find anything. I have to have the PC on for at least an hour or so before I can safely close it without it popping up in front of my face again.. Would appreciate any help, thanks

Make sure you don't have LW set to run on system startup. Tools > options > advanced > system startup. Untick 'run on system startup' & apply.

Otherwise, it sounds like a virus, see point 4 in the thread below
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of

If you need help getting rid of it, go to Norbiesworld & follow the directions for free computer help:wink:

Always make sure that you're using a good AV program. Keep it updated & scan all downloaded files before opening!

Thanks for the help birdy, but I really doubt it's a virus. I do know I have some spyware that came with the Limewire that my Ad-aware keeps telling me about(but can't remove) cause "it's always running", but when I get rid of it using Housecall, Limewire won't work because it seems the worm or what ever it is, is interconnected to Limewire and along goes the app nessecary to run Limewire. Seems like just a stupid Limewire bug, no?

Btw, your sig is priceless

When LW pops up all the time & refuses to stay closed, it's usually a virus.
If you downloaded LW from www.limewire.com it is completely malware free. A scam site might be a different story.
I'd still advise you to at least run an AV scan but of course, it's up to you

Some spyware programs think LW has spyware but it doesn't. Any utility that does is not well designed. LW does not have spyware. You may doubt you have a virus, but such virus is a common gnutella virus. Did you see the link birdy left about viruses?

Well I have ran it plenty of times, and what I explained about always pops up. Let me go run trend micro again. I'll chime in with the results. God, how I hate their new super advanced scan.. So complicated
