| How many green connection bars do you see? If it's only some downloads that aren't connecting (rather than your LW not connecting), you might be seeing fake files. There are lots around & they'll sit connecting forever but won't download. Search again, vary your search terms, try the All Types search. Stay away from files with loads of sources, try a file with 10 sources or less or even a file with a single modem source. For video files, use Bitzi to check the file before download How to use Bitzi For your firewall problem, read through the sticky below. It has lots of info. Connection problems? Check here first! Make sure you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly. Do you use an external modem or router (the one you've listed sounds like an internal one)? If you've got an external device, it's probably got it's own internal firewall & sometimes these can cause problems. For more info, read through the parts in the sticky about enabling UPnP & port forwarding. |

| Hey Birdy, thanx 4 the reply. Looks like I have all the green bars lit up and available. What is a good file size for video? Thanks for directing me to the bitzi sticky, good info. I believe the modem I am using is internal, because everything is inside my tower and came that way when I bought it. I do have an ethernet box for my Qwst DSL that I use to get connected, but I don't think that is a modem, or my problem. I am going to be changing my isp soon though, cuz I am aprox 85% slower than nation avarage qwst user right now! I think that has alot to do with what is going on cuz there are certain times when downloads are prolific and lightening fast to dwnld! Other times I get nottin and 1kb or slower or nothin at all. Who knew my desire to acquire music and stuff would lead to a better techi-ness in puters, huh? I don't mind cuz it is fun. Thanks for your repy ~J |
