firewall problems- STUCK

ok so i have been reading lots of these posts and trying to figure out the problem myself but nothing seems to be working when i try these things

i think it may be my norton that is the problem

im trying to get the brick wall away from the globe in the bottom left hand corner of my limewire :)

the problem is when everyone refers to changing the personal firewall settings in norton i can't figure it out because i do not have an internet security settings tab in my norton

ihave a norton protection center tab and a norton antivirus tab
i do have norton 2006 though? but it says limited coverage under web browsing and such

are there any suggestions? here

also i find it kind of odd that sometimes my limewire can find very very few artists and songs?

Can you supply the details of your set up please: System details - help us to help you

I'll see if I can get someone who uses Norton to help with your issue.

Disable either your XP or Norton Firewall. These 2 firewalls will clash with eachother & result in less security, not more. And will also give LW firewall issues. And configure your other firewall. You could try XP firewall enabled just for the moment & disable Norton just to see if you can get connected; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

* But I suspect the main problem here is connecting from a Dorm. Most schools & dorms now block or filter p2p programs.

jennchicapea October 22nd, 2006 12:48 PM

is there a way for me to fix the p2p blocking prblem that the college may have??

Lord of the Rings October 22nd, 2006 12:53 PM

Discuss it with the people who are in charge is the best way.

Proxies may or may not work. Proxies for LW can be a pain to set up & may take many to try before one works ... if it works in your scenario. There's some listed here A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Page 2 has links to many to try.
