Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? No This is a new problem. Up until a few weeks ago I was downloading fine but now Limewire times out while I'm downloading. It's not just limewire, BitTorrent does it as well. I have no idea why this has happened, I haven't installed any new software and my system is bot virus and spyware free. Thanks for any help in advance. |
Try a different port. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. A good one to try is 64049. Change it for the connection port also. BTW your model router has major firmware problems. Which means it's unreliable to use in UPnP mode, & can still be unreliable anyway. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...843#post196843 |
I tried changing the ports to no avail. It isn't a router problem as it happened before I got my router. I have no idea as to what it could be. |
Be sure your XP firewall is disabled. Recheck Norton's settings; (a) Configuring Norton Internet Security, & (b) Reconfiguring Norton Firewall |
Windows XP is disabled and I have checked my configuration for Norton. It can't be Norton as the problem first occured before I got my new router and I installed Norton when I bought the router. It only occurs when I try to use p2p programs or torrent clients. I can download from my browser with ease and browsing the net is ok as well. |
Hmmn sounds like it might be ISP filtering then. Some ISP's have filters that can stop p2p programs from working. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>OPtions>ADvanced>Firewalls & change the both the listening port & connection ports to 64049 & see what happens. |
Well it seems like my problem is fixed. I did change the listening port to 64049 yesterday so maybe a restart has fixed it. I've been downloading for about 15-20 mins now with no problems. I'll try BitTorrent later to see if there has been any change there. Thanks for all your help. |
hello hi:) |
hi luvbuni, it would be best introducing yourself in the Welcome to the Gnutella Forums and introduce yourself - Gnutella Forums section rather than posting irrelevantly to a very old thread. :) Welcome to the forums anyway. :) |
