Brick Wall Remains When Firewall Is Off

The brick wall in LW is appearing and staying despite me turning of my firewall?

Does anyone know why?

Will this affect my downloads? It does not seem to be.

It's N@rt@n Internet Security 2006

It could effect your downloads & it will definitely effect your uploads...not many people will be able to upload from you!

Have a look through the sticky below, there's a lot of info & possible solutions to firewall problems. Make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly rather than turned off. LW might be detecting a firewall within your modem/router, so check out the info about enabling UPnP & port forwarding.
Connection problems? Check here first!

If you're stuck, post back with your details. The second post of that sticky will show the info we need:wink:

Hi Birdy,

I'm not great with firewalls. I turn it off because it wont download my emails in Outl@@k. I have a Netgear DG834G Modem Router. There is no active firewall in it.

By the way, just last week im positive that brick wall was not there.

LimeWire Test Worked.
I'm 99% sure that N@rt@n is my only firewall. I would know if i installed another one.
My UPnP is enabled.

Windows XP Service Pack 2
512MB RAM
More than 20GB Hard Drive is free
Connecting from home
Limewire 4.12.3
ISP is People Telecom (In Australia)
I very occasionally use Azureus from this connection
512/128 Broadband connection

Just make sure that the XP firewall is off, it'll conflict with Norton & cause trouble.
You might want to make sure of your Norton configuration (sorry, I can't help you there - I don't use it), or even try reconfiguring it since you're having trouble with it in another area too. Check out the links below for some more info about this

You could always try port forwarding, rather than enabling UPnP...see if that makes any difference. Follow the instructions at the site below. Just remember to set up a static IP address first (you'll find instructions for that within the same link) or it won't work.

See how that goes & post back if you've still got problems:)
