Bye Bye Limewire

Put a reply here if you are fed up with limewire and are uninstalling it. Maybe Limewire might sort things out if they see people are leaving

So long not goodbye

I too have reached my limit. I felt that Limewire was easy to use and had a high sucess rate. Now i cannot connect at all. Bearshare works as well as it ever did. I'm there 'till Limewire cleans up its act. Anyone got other suggestions on what works out there?

If you just wanna download music, get songspy it works when limewire won't, better download speeds aswell.

I give up. Until Limewire starts working again, and discontinues its deplorable use of spyware (yes, spyware-- let's not be euphemistic about it), a lot of us will be bailing out in favor of a more honest and more functional program. The sooner Limewire realizes this, the better it will be for them and its users.

Limewire just doesn't connect. I'm going back to Kazaa... So much for all the LM hype.

crud

Limewire, you just stopped working and you don't know why, nobody knows anything, there are loads of people who are having problems, what does that tell you, if only the people that advertise on your banners saw all the problems........

what

And now they want us to buy this program, that does not work, that nobody knows why and none of the staff can help, great marketing ploy!

If Bearshare didn't work so well, I'd think the RIAA was somehow "jamming" the Gnutella network. As it is, Limewire seems to have lost it's way. The only reason I still use it is to avoid an all-Bearshare network. And the only reason I haven't switched to Kazaa/Morpheus/etc. is because they use a proprietary closed network. Maybe Freenet will work one day...

Silence...

I simply can't understand why there hasn't been any acknowledgement or official description of the issue. I hate all the negativity, but seriously, there's obviously a problem. As far I can tell, it appears that Limewire has missed it. That could be easily fixed by them clearly and openly posting information. That's how you win over and keep users.

As it is now, you don't have to stop using it because you can't use it; It simply doesn't work. I'd think we'd all like to know why.

This is a joke, right?

I actually PAID for this POS? I must be losing my mind. I can see from the posts that almost no one is happy with the release of Pro and that it was sold when it should have not been.

I will be contacting my credit card provider and disputing the charge since I can't use it and I suggest that we all consider getting together and filing a class action suit before these guys just disappear wiithout any accountability at all.

Good luck with PayPal

Don't forget -- we bought LimeWire Pro using PayPal, which isn't a licensed service. It's not a bank or anything, it's just a bunch of guys who want you to trust them with your credit card and bank account.

I started to setup an account with them but stopped (I thought) after they seemed to insist on knowing my bank account number. Then, months later, I discovered that they had an active account for me *with* my credit card number! So... I went ahead and used it to pay for LW and some other really tiny stuff, then cancelled the credit card.

If the Limewire people were smart they would charge $6 for the pre 2.0 version and give the 2.0+ versions away for free. Just an idea. I'm sure glad I didn't waste $6 for a completely useless V 2.0+ :(

Unregistered January 6th, 2002 07:17 AM

Yea

I find it amusing that people will pay for something that does not work.

Unregistered January 9th, 2002 10:15 AM

Paypal

As long as you use a credit card with Paypal you can still dispute the charge through the issuer, they look at Paypal as a sale so it does not matter. You are however screwed if you use money from a bank account and the seller refuses to work with you.
