try running your cable directly to your modem (skipping the router)

i did that already as stated in #5, i completely unhooker router and turned off wireless on computer and just ran a cable, nothing changed, thanks for the reply though

wrt54g router has major firmware problems. See the note about wrt54g under the UPnP section here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) under Linksys listing about 20% of way down the page. And look for the link called "Linksys WRT54G - Fixed my problem, Followed these steps and it works!", but that's only if you're brave. ;) :)

thanks for replying LOTR but i eliminated my router as being the problem, i turned off my wireless on my computer, unhooked the router and directly connected my computer to my roadrunner modem. still firewalled.

Try these then:

1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Your prefs are probably corrupted after the freeze.

2. Reconfiguring Norton Firewall

i deleted the preferences folder and it didn't help,but...... i did finally get it to work, i did the port forwarding with my lynksys router. this link is awesome by the way and should be posted everywhere with firewall problems http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm
my question is why did i have to do this, i thought me unplugging my router and directly connecting to modem from isp elimanated me havng to mess with router? anyways thanks alot for your help, i went to the "reconfiguring norton firewall" link you gave and on that page i got sidetracked to the portforwarding link, i don't know if that was your plan but it worked.

That is an awesome site. Yes port forwarding is much more reliable than UPnP & especially for your model. However, if you do find the port forwarding is unreliable, then re-check the link about the firmware issue. It's not for the faint hearted but it is effective if done properly.

Anyway congratulations. :)
